Potential investment scams

Customers should be aware of a fraudulent practice intended to scam investors using "clone firms". The practice involves criminals impersonating legitimate firms in order to defraud investors. Fraudsters will use the name and address of the genuine FCA authorised firm and attempt to persuade investors that they are speaking to an employee of the legitimate firm in order to get them to invest in fake investment products or opportunities.

This activity typically involves "cold calling" which is the practice of contacting people out of the blue. Please be aware that Odd Asset Management do not cold call consumers. If you do receive an unsolicited call, letter or email purporting to be from ODD Asset Management or indeed from any other firm, you should take the following steps before you transfer any money:

To help in the fight against financial crime, it is important that attempted or actual fraud is reported to the appropriate authorities, even if it is embarrassing to admit.

If you have been the victim of fraud and have transferred money out of your account to fraudsters, you should report this to Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 or visit https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/.

If you have been contacted by a scammer or if you have been the victim of a scam or fraud, the FCA should be notified. To do so, you can call the Consumer Helpline on 08001116768 or via the following link www.fca.org.uk/consumers/report-scam-unauthorised-firm.
